CWDS Glossary
The CWDS Glossary includes a List of Acronyms and defined terms captured from various models, reports, and other artifacts pertaining to the Child Welfare System – California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) Project. The Glossary standardizes terms used across the various project disciplines; each term is defined with its meaning specific to the project domain.

Potentially Shippable Increment (PSI)
Results that are completed to a high degree of confidence and represent work of good quality that is potentially shippable to end customers at the end of a sprint. Being potentially shippable does not mean the results will actually be delivered to customers. One or more Potentially Shippable Increments can be included in a Release.
Predictive Analytics
Includes analyzing current and historical facts to make predictions about future, or otherwise unknown, events. Predictive models exploit patterns found in historical and transactional data to identify risks and opportunities. Models capture relationships among many factors to allow assessment of risk or potential associated with a particular set of conditions.

Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA)
A process which assists organizations in identifying and managing the privacy risks arising from new projects, initiatives, systems, processes, strategies, policies, business relationships etc.
Privacy Threshold Assessment (PTA)
A questionnaire used to determine if a system contains personally identifiable information (PII)
Probation
The Probation Department is an integral part of the public safety structure, charged with the supervision of adult and juvenile offenders granted probation by the Courts. Probation Departments operate Juvenile Hall, juvenile commitment and monitoring facilities and prepare investigative reports for the Superior, Juvenile and Dependency Courts.
Product
Software systems delivered to the customer with the documentation that describes how to install and use the system.
Product Backlog
A living document which prioritizes the new features, changes to existing features, bug fixes, infrastructure changes or other activities that a team may deliver to achieve a specific outcome.
Product Chief
Responsible for Product design and management, including user and policy research, value hypothesis development, metric definition, service design, user experience (UX) design and rapid prototyping. Also works with Service Managers in setting product scope and communicating product value.
Product Delivery Team
Everyone who is responsible for delivering the product. Includes Service Managers, Product Delivery Leads, SMEs, Developers, and Vendor groups who may serve in various roles.
