CWDS Glossary

The CWDS Glossary includes a List of Acronyms and defined terms captured from various models, reports, and other artifacts pertaining to the Child Welfare System – California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) Project. The Glossary standardizes terms used across the various project disciplines; each term is defined with its meaning specific to the project domain.

Geotagging

The process of adding geographical information to various media in the form of Metadata.

GitHub

A cloud service that programmers use to store their software projects, share them, and work on them collaboratively in teams.

Global Positioning System (GPS)

A radio navigation system that allows land, sea, and airborne users to determine their exact location, velocity, and time 24 hours a day, in all weather conditions, anywhere in the world.

Go-Live

Production implementation of the CWS-CARES.

Go-Live Support

Support period after Go-Live (including onsite support and the Command Center).

Greenfield

Within 6 months of onboarding all vendors, CWDS will deliver a Greenfield (Demonstration) Module to Production.“Greenfield” means no connection (data synchronization) with legacy systems. The greenfield module must be something that can be delivered within six months of onboarding the PVS, PaaS, CDI and independent advisory vendors. The project would build the greenfield module following the full-Service Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC).

Group Home

Any facility of any capacity which provides 24-hour care and supervision to children in a structured environment, with such services provided at least in part by staff employed by the licensee. The care and supervision provided by a group home shall be nonmedical except as permitted by Welfare and Institutions code Section 17736(b).

Group Policy Object (GPO)

Provides centralized management and configuration of operating systems, applications, and users' settings in an Active Directory environment.
