CWDS Glossary

The CWDS Glossary includes a List of Acronyms and defined terms captured from various models, reports, and other artifacts pertaining to the Child Welfare System – California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) Project. The Glossary standardizes terms used across the various project disciplines; each term is defined with its meaning specific to the project domain.

Core Constituents

County, State, or Indian Tribal representatives who collaborate with CWDS in research, design, testing, and support of activities for the implementation or improvement of a Digital Service.

Core County

A county that provides representatives to collaborate with CWDS in the research, design, development, testing, implementation and improvement of a Digital Service. NOTE: This term is no longer applicable. It is covered in the term “Core Constituents.”

Core Team Members

The resources who will conduct User Acceptance Testing with the Service Manager and provide expert guidance and support for technical and business decisions. These resources will execute and update User Stories and escalate any issues.

Corporate Taxonomy

The hierarchical classification of entities of interest of an enterprise, organization or administration, used to classify documents, digital assets and other information. Taxonomies can cover virtually any type of physical or conceptual entities (products, processes, knowledge fields, human groups, etc.) at any level of granularity.

Corrective Action Plan

The detailed written required by the State* at no cost to the State* to correct or resolve a Deficiency or breach by Contractor* or event causing the assessment of a liquidated damage against Contractor*.

County Access to Data (CAD)

The CWS/CMS data warehouse/reporting service provided for State* and county agencies. The CAD system uses business objects software to develop reports and access the data warehouse which is refreshed daily.

County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA)

A non-profit association representing the human service directors from each of California’s 58 counties. The CWDA's mission is to promote a human services system that encourages self-sufficiency of families and communities, and protects vulnerable children and adults from abuse and neglect.

Crisis Nurseries

A facility licensed by CDSS pursuant to Section 1516 of the Health and Safety Code to provide short-term, 24-hour non-medical residential care and supervision for children under six years of age, who are placed by a parent or legal guardian due to a family crisis or stressful situation, for no more than 30 days.

Cross-Reporting

The process by which child welfare agencies and law enforcement agencies are required to notify each other when a report of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation is received.

Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)

A type of malicious exploit of a website where unauthorized commands are transmitted from a user that the website trusts. Also known as one-click attack or session riding.
