CWDS Glossary

The CWDS Glossary includes a List of Acronyms and defined terms captured from various models, reports, and other artifacts pertaining to the Child Welfare System – California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) Project. The Glossary standardizes terms used across the various project disciplines; each term is defined with its meaning specific to the project domain.

Acceptable Use Agreement (AUA)

A document stipulating constraints and practices that a user must agree to for access to the technology layer

Acceptance, Accepted

Notice from the State* to the Contractor* that a Deliverable* or service has satisfied the Acceptance Criteria for that Deliverable* or service. See also, CWS-CARES General Provisions, Paragraph 16. Inspection, Acceptance and Rejection.

Acceptance Criteria (AC)

Criteria that a system or component must satisfy in order to be accepted by a user, County end user, or other authorized entity.

Accusation

A legal pleading regarding a facility issue that is served on an individual or corporation to initiate an administrative action.

Acquisition and Contracting Services Division (ACSD)

One of Five OSI Administrative Services areas, responsible for processing the incoming CWDS procurement packages, coordinating the approval and review of procurement documents from the OSI Directorate and CDT Statewide Technology Procurement Division when appropriate, scheduling meetings and reserving locations on behalf of the ACSD CWDS resources.

Active Directory (AD)

A directory service that Microsoft developed for Windows domain networks and is included in most Windows Server operating systems as a set of processes and services.

Activity

A thing that a person or group does or has done.

Ad-hoc Testing

Testing that is carried out without following specific test scenarios or scripts, to access the viability of a Product.

Administration on Children and Families (ACF)

A division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, responsible for federal programs which promote the economic and social well-being of families, children, individuals, and communities.

Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF)

An office of the ACF within the U.S the Department of Health and Human Services. ACYF is the federal sponsor for Child Welfare Services (CWS) and the Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) program.
