California’s solution to support the Title IV-E eligibility process is known as the Foster Care Eligibility Determination (FCED) module. This module includes both a data preparation service and a Business Rules Engine (BRE). The FCED module will be developed and maintained in the California Statewide Automated Welfare System (CalSAWS), which is currently under development with an anticipated deployment of December 2023. There will be a robust interface of data between the Child Welfare Services-California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) and CalSAWS.
